Irish horse racing archives return to screens after deal is agreed

Irish horse racing replays have made a return to a number of digital platforms after At the Races, Horse Racing Ireland, Racing TV and SIS reached an agreement to restore the service.

Archived race replays, dating back to December 31, 2018, disappeared from screens on New Year’s day after the rights to broadcast live action from Ireland were handed over from At the Races to Racing TV.

The service vanished amid accusations from both parties suggesting new arrangements to broadcast the archived races had not been made. The service has since been restored.

A joint statement issued on behalf of all four companies said: “We are pleased that all parties have reached an agreement which will enable the Irish digital archive to be restored to websites.

“The archive up to December 31, 2018 will be restored on attheraces.com today. It will be available for the rest of 2019.

“RacingTV.com will continue to display Irish archive from January 1, 2019. Archive prior to that date, going back to January 1, 2017, will be available to access over the coming months.

“Other websites which carry video form, such as bookmaker and horse racing websites, will display the complete archive today.”
