Fan engagement for the Six Nations has soared after UK punters placed 26 per cent more bets on the tournament in comparison to this time last year.

Ahead of this weekend’s crunch clash at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, fans have wagered five-times more bets on the Wales vs England game in comparison to the next most backed game, France vs Scotland.

With Oddschecker revealing that fans are backing Eddie Jones’ England side to end the undefeated run of Wales and remain on course for a Six Nations Victory.

The sites spokesperson George Elek commented: “Saturday’s match is the kind that makes the Six Nations so special. Both sides are unbeaten in this tournament but England is looking the most convincing.

“It’s a mouthwatering encounter on paper and has certainly caught the eye of punters ahead of the weekend.”

Wales have attracted 43.5 per cent of the bets placed by punters, while England received 47 per cent of the punters’ backing. The remaining 9.5 per cent have thrust their support behind what will be an unlikely draw.

With England tipped to win the tournament, fans will surely hope that the team continues its unbeaten streak. Elek added: “England are as short as 4/6 to win the Grand Slam, having already swept aside France and Ireland. Even that price will look big should they do the same on Saturday.”

This year marked the first year the tournament has utilised AWS analytics, machine learning, and deep learning services to deliver more in-depth insight into the Championship and enhance the match experience for rugby fans around the world.

The development comes as rugby continues to embrace new technologies in a bid to heighten fan engagement and enhance the viewing experience for fans.
