SBC’s Digital Summit Latinoamérica is set to open its event with a Sports Betting in Focus track, including a keynote presentation from Graciela Garay (Ethics & Compliance Officer, CONMEBOL) and Julio Lansac (Integrity Officer, CONMEBOL) on ensuring integrity is upheld in Latin American sports betting.

The event will also see operator CEOs from Colombia and Costa Rica set the tone for the high-level virtual conference by sharing their vision for the future of the betting industry in the region.

Sports Betting in Focus is one of four tracks at the largest online conference and exhibition for the Latin American betting and gaming industry, which takes place on 16 – 17 June 2020. The event will use an advanced technological platform to replicate the key benefits of a physical trade show and make them accessible to delegates from their homes and offices.

After CONMEBOL’s opening presentation, it will be followed by the conference’s first panel, Grey to White, which will examine how sportsbooks can adapt their marketing messages to comply with the planned new regulatory regimes in several local markets.

Operator leaders including JD Duarte (CEO, Betcris), Germán Segura (CEO, BetPlay) and Fernanda Sainz (CMO LatAm, Caliente Interactive) will share their ideas on how brand promotional activity will have to change. BetanDeal Founder Joaquín Gago will join them to provide an affiliate perspective on how to adjust to the new guidelines.

The day’s second panel is Innovation in Sports Betting: Engaging Customers With New Products, which will detail how to tailor a sportsbook to the specific requirements of sports-mad audiences in Latin America.

Among those providing insights on key issues such as the use of mobile apps and whether features popular with European punters, such as ‘cash out’ and ‘request a bet’, have a role to play are Rodrigo Afanador Carrasco (CEO, Zamba.co) and Juan José Mantese (LatAm Operations Director, Meridian Gaming).

The track concludes with Behind the Scenes of Brazil’s New Regulatory Framework, a session conducted in Portuguese. It will provide in-depth information about what the planned legislation means for the sports betting and gaming industry in what many commentators believe has the potential to become one of the world’s largest markets.

The discussion will feature the perspectives of the regulator, an operator and a trade association, with Waldir Marques (Undersecretary, SECAP) joined by Arthur Silva (Head of Sports Operations, Sportsbet.io) and Magnho José Santos de Souza (President, Instituto Brasileño de Juego Legal) on a panel to be moderated by Witoldo Hendrich Jùnior (Founding Partner, Online IPS Brazil – Hendrich Advogados).

In addition to the panel sessions, the track will feature a presentation by Karen Sierra-Hughes (Director, LatAm, GLI) and Georges Didier (LatAm Development Rep., GLI) about regulation in new markets.

Rasmus Sojmark, CEO and Founder of SBC, said: “This is a fantastic way to kick-off our first ever dedicated Latin American event, as some of the most influential executives in the industry join us to outline how the sports betting sector can achieve its potential in the region.

“Our track record of putting together exceptional speaker line-ups has allowed audiences at SBC’s European and North American events over the last few years to benefit from the experience and ideas of leading figures in the betting and gaming industries. It’s great for us to now be able to deliver the same high-level insights to a new audience at SBC Digital Summit Latinoamérica.”

Sports Betting in Focus will be followed by the Beyond Betting track on 16 June, with Lessons From Europe and Land-Based 2.0 to come on the second day of the event.

SBC Digital Summit Latinoamérica also features a range of virtual networking opportunities to allow delegates to make new connections with fellow industry professionals keen to do business in the region, along with a 20-booth interactive exhibition where leading suppliers will showcase their latest innovations to the 2,000 attendees.
