FC Barcelona has agreed a new deal with Canon Medical which will see the Japanese medical device company continue to be one of the club’s global partners for the next five seasons.

As a result of the renewal, Canon Medical will also resume its partnership with Barça Innovation Hub (BIHUB), the team’s knowledge and innovation platform that it uses to create products and services to be used by the club, its athletes and by society in general.

Other initiatives that will be done due to the renewal include supplying cutting-edge systems to the Barcelona Medical Centre at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper training facility and collaborating with the club’s sports medicine solutions centre.

Canon Medical has secured the title of official medical systems partner for the La Liga side with the partnership allowing Barcelona to use a range of image-based diagnosis systems to help improve player rehab whilst also aiding the prevention and diagnosis of injuries on and off the pitch.

Barcelona’s partnership with Canon Medical began in 2015, with the new deal taking the relationship to a decade. Moving forward, the club has announced that the plan is to deliver a range of new and exciting technologies, including the first AI-powered MRI system, the Vantage Galan 3T, a suite of ultrasound solutions, along with the latest digital X-ray system.

The club has recently announced that it intends to ‘proactively source and work with partners that are aligned with its own values and philosophy’ which includes creating a range of new and existing deals.

As a result of the club’s shift in its marketing strategy, this month Barcelona has already secured a range of partners including the CUPRA Formentor becoming the official car of the La Liga side.
