Online CFD trading platform Plus500 has extended its naming rights partnership with Australian Super Rugby club Brumbies until the end of 2021.

As a result of the deal, the club will remain as Plus500 Brumbies for the 2021 Super Rugby campaign. This year’s edition of the tournament has been regularly postponed due to the global health pandemic, ultimately this resulted in the teams involved being impacted financially due to a lack of matchday revenue among other monetary streams being reduced.

Plus500 Brumbies’ CEO Phil Thomson praised the partnership renewal ahead of what has been a difficult period for the club with the agreement signaling the strength of the club as a brand.

Thomson commented: “It is with great pleasure that we are able to announce the extension of our partnership with Plus500 for 2021.

“We have built a very strong relationship with Plus500 as our naming rights partner over the last four years and we are very happy that they have decided to continue their association with our club. In what has been a difficult year for everyone, their acknowledgement of the strength of the Brumbies is a huge vote of confidence in our organisation and a boost to the game in Canberra and the surrounding region.

“Their ongoing commitment to us during such a difficult period is a testament to the strength of their brand.”

Plus500 have maintained a relationship with the rugby union side since 2017, with the trading platform also developing its global sporting portfolio throughout the partnership. Along with Brumbies, Plus500 also has a variety of agreements with the likes of Atletico Madrid, Atalanta, Young Boys and Legia Warsaw.

Plus500 Australia CEO Sean Murphy added: “After a year as volatile and unpredictable as 2020, it gives me great pleasure to reconfirm Plus500’s relationship with the Brumbies for another year.

“The Brumbies have shown incredible resilience and have continued to promote their core values of integrity, mateship and success throughout these unprecedented times.

“We are honoured to once again stand by this proud club as their Major Sponsor for the 2021 Super Rugby season.”
