Mercedes-Benz will continue to act as the Official Car Sponsor of Eredivisie side Ajax, after the two parties extended the long-standing agreement until 2023.

Players, backroom and management staff will be chauffeured in Mercedes-Benz vehicles, which will be supplied by the Dutch club’s Official Car Supplier Stern, whom the club have been partnered with for 27 years.

Additionally, the dealer aims to make ‘the vehicle fleet more sustainable’ and find ‘solutions that fit the current mobility needs’ within the next few years of the contract.

Chief Executive of Mercedes-Benz Benelux, Pierre-Emmanuel Chartier, commented: “Our strong, internationally famous brands are a good match for one another. We at Mercedes-Benz are taking huge steps to shift towards emissions-free mobility. This makes sustainability another essential part of our strategy, and we share this long-term vision with Ajax.”

The deal was announced via the club’s social media channels, offering 14 supporters the chance to win Ajax themed Mercedes-Benz electric kidscars as part of the collaboration.

“Over the next few years, we together with Mercedes-Benz will help Ajax make their transport more sustainable and we will launch special promotions for Ajax’s business network and fans,” Bastiaan Geurts, Chief Customer Officer at Stern, added.

There is also an option to extend the deal an additional two years until 2025, should Ajax, Mercedes-Benz and Stern wish to activate it.
