Hyperice further enhances sports status with LA Lakers deal

Recovery technology developer Hyperice has further strengthened its presence in the US sports sponsorship sector via an agreement with the Los Angeles Lakers..

As a result of the agreement Hyperice will become the ‘Official Recovery Technology Sponsor’ of the 17-time National Basketball Association (NBA) Championship winners.

This is the first time the firm has forged an agreement with an individual NBA team, and builds on its ongoing partnerships with the National Football League (NFL), Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) and 2019 Super Bowl champions the Kansas City Chiefs.

“We are excited to be the first NBA team to be officially sponsored by Hyperice,” said Tim Harris, President of Business Operations at the LA Lakers.

“We are committed to giving our players access to the best tools and technology to help optimize their performance and recovery. Hyperice is the industry leader in this technology and we are thrilled to be able to provide our team with the latest and most advanced devices and equipment at both the UCLA Health Training Center and courtside at our games.”

The agreement will see Hyperice supply the Lakers with its full range of devices and technology to assist with post-match recovery and optimise the player’s performance.

Lakers players will also be equipped with Hypervolt Plus percussion massagers and Venom thermal and vibration lines at courtside during games to assist with ingame physical maintenance and recovery. Finally, the firm’s HyperTanks will be integrated into the UCLA Health Training Centre.

“I have been a die-hard Lakers fan as long as I can remember. When I started Hyperice, I sought out Lakers players and training staff to validate our technology early in the product testing and development phases,” added Anthony Katz, Founder and President of Hyperice.

“Some of those products, and their future iterations, would go on to become industry changing and brand defining. After working with the team for nine years, we are proud to make our sponsorship official with the premier franchise in the NBA.”

Anthony Davis, Hyperice Investor, also commented: “Similar to the Lakers, Hyperice innovates at a pace that far exceeds the competition and I’m thrilled that the Lakers are the first NBA team on their roster.”
