LaLiga has announced that  blockchain-driven solution Socios.com has become its new global fan engagement partner, in a bid to further engage the league’s global fans.

In collaboration with the fan engagement platform, LaLiga Santander promises that supporters will get the chance to get closer to players, regardless of where in the world they are based, and to access rewards such as official products, signed jerseys, free tickets and other opportunities.

Oscar Mayo, Executive Director of LaLiga, commented: “At LaLiga we are pleased to partner with Socios.com, one of the global leaders in fan engagement solutions for the sports industry.

“Thanks to this agreement, all our fans around the world will be able to connect more actively with their favorite players and teams. For us it’s a way of getting closer to them and offering them new experiences.”

In a rise of partnerships between professional football teams and blockchain platforms, over 40 sport organisations across 20 countries and seven different sports have launched official Fan Tokens on the Socios.com app.

The firm’s notable collaborators include LaLiga Santander clubs such as FC Barcelona, Atlético de Madrid, Valencia CF and Levante UD, Formula 1 teams, esports organisations and mixed martial arts brands.

Alexandre Dreyfus, Founder and CEO of Socios.com, commented: “The LaLiga partnership will allow us to take another step forward in our mission to bring about a new era of global fan engagement, where fans are no longer spectators, but empowered, active participants.”

In May, LaLiga expanded its partnership with Microsoft in an alternative bid to further enhance fan engagement and ‘digitally transform’ the sports experience. This saw the league collaborate with Microsoft’s new and existing solutions to drive innovation across the sports industry for fans, rights-holders, commercial partners and broadcasters, and venue managers alike.

“Over the past few years Socios.com has earned a reputation for being an innovative brand in sports in terms of embracing innovation and leveraging new technologies. This partnership is another demonstration of their boldness and leadership,” added Dreyfus.
